The Importance of Finding a Professional Dog Trainer

private dog training
So, what makes a professional dog trainer? In order for a person to judge on how each dog is to be handled during a dog training class, they must have experience. This is experience that is more than taking a couple of dogs through the initial rounds. This is the kind of knowledge that is gained from working with all breeds and under all conditions. The nature and characteristics of each dog has to be considered – the training method should be varied in order to meet the occasion.

The trainer has the advantage, only when he/she knows what they can expect and what the dogs’ reaction will be. A trainer foresees the dog’s next move and then decides whether or not to force the issue or to decrease the demands. It takes skill to know when to be gentle towards a dog and when to be firm. It also takes skill to when to reprimand and when to encourage. A good trainer is has essential qualities that give him/her the capability of coordinating their body movement with every move a dog makes in training and the result is good timing. This is the exact reason why so many trainers succeed and some fail. When a trainer is clear-cut in his actions that’s simply because he/she is experienced – they know what they are doing and so does the dog – this leads to respect! When a dog gains respect through admiration and not fear, this will bring a positive response. This is proof of a person’s one’s training qualities.

A dog can not be forced to like obedience but he can be forced to be obedient! The dog trainer should not be a bully. A good trainer understands that all training is every new step becomes easier and easier only if the previous lessons have been thoroughly understood by the dog. Experienced trainers do not fear retracing their steps briefly if it will give a dog confidence. The experienced trainer is also aware of the terrible effects caused by nagging so he/she will avoid it all together. A person who is patient does not become infuriated if results are a little slow in coming. The intelligent trainer thrives in making a dog feel accountable for the correction. Yes, he/she is kind but they are also firm. They will make obedience fun for a pet.

Surprisingly, a good trainer doesn’t always make a good training class instructor. Many will attempt to train dogs at home and give private instruction with success; however, when they are in front of a large group, they lack the important qualities of leadership. During the dog training class, its great to be able to work out a single problem, however, one has to be able to solve a whole host of problems at any given moment.

Additionally, the trainer director has to be likable. They must have the respect of his/her trainee. They must have tact and be very patient and broadminded of others. It is not always a piece of cake to train someone on how to accomplish what one is capable to doing on their own. A good training director will never allow the class to be in session for a long time when discussing one dog’s dilemma with the owner. He/she never holds back the group for a couple of unruly dogs. Dog owners with special needs must be asked to come before the class begins or stay after the training class is completed for individual instruction.

free dog training lessons
fanime234 asked:

I was wondering if a dog, and which breed specifically, would do okay with my busy schedule. Heres an average week

Sunday: Basically free all day, except for the occasional sleepover and friend activities

Monday: Leave for school at 7:00 and come back at 2:00. This is the weekly minumum day.

Tueday: School 7-3:30, Biblestudy from 7-8:30

Wednesday: School 7-3:30, Orchestra 6:30- 9:15

Thursday: School 7-3:30, every other thursday lessons 4-6

Friday:School 7-3:30

Saturday: Free except for occasaional things

I may be able to convince my mom to do things with the dog during school and stuff. I’d like to have a very playful dog, that is really easy to train, but doesn’t need to have a lot of interaction on busy days? Is there such thing as a dog that can be very energetic and playful, as well as train, but can also just nap and relax? Thanks!

Dog Training Equipment For A Happy Obedient Dog

dog training equipment
Training a dog is fun and also necessary. It is important to create a good relationship between your dog and yourself. Training should be enjoyable for you both. There are several reasons to train your pet. First of all, your dog has to know that you are the boss and he has to do what you say. A dog will try to get away with other behavior but if you are firm, he will learn. Secondly, it is important to teach your dog social skills such as not jumping up on strangers, chasing cats or marking their territory indoors.

It is easier to train a young puppy but possible to train an older dog too. One handy item is a whistle. You can get normal whistles and ones only audible to dogs. Noise-sensitive breeds, such as Border Collies, will find these useful. You can get a whistle for about five dollars. You could get a two tone whistle, for teaching other skills or tricks.

You can get balls and dumbbells for a couple of dollars to teach your dog how to retrieve on land or in the water. Another piece of dog training equipment is a retractable leash. This is useful for keeping the dog close or allowing him more freedom. It is also useful to show controlled socialization between puppies and young dogs.

You can buy something called a ‘pet corrector’ from a pet store, which is a pressurized canister full of air. When your dog is misbehaving, you press the button and some air is let out with a hissing sound. Animals do not like the sound because it suggests a dangerous snake, insect or bird, so this is a method of controlling excessive barking or bad behavior. You have to be careful not to overuse this in case your dog is upset by it. The dog will associate the bad sound with doing something that displeases you and he should modify his behavior.

You can find and purchase Dog training equipment from pet stores, a veterinarian or a dog store online. If you browse the internet, there are a number of websites offering various dog training products, most of which are under ten dollars.

All dog training equipment should be kept clean at all times and leashes can usually be washed in soapy water because they will probably get mud or dirt on them at some point. A whistle must be kept clean because it goes in your mouth. Balls and rubber dumbbells can be washed and rinsed off afterwards.

If you want to put your dog in a show, dog training equipment is a must. To win a show, a dog must demonstrate perfect obedience and have been trained well beforehand.

Dog training equipment is useful but the most important thing when it comes to training your pet is the way in which you teach him. Be firm and clear. Confusing instructions will not give great results. Praise him or reward him after doing something right. Dogs are very intelligent creatures and can learn easily if taught in the correct way. You will get a great deal more enjoyment from your pet if he is well trained and your relationship will be a lot stronger.

Buying and Using an Electronic Dog Training Collar

dog training collars
rrently own a dog that seems a bit hard to train then you might be considering buying an electronic dog training collar. While the idea of using an electronic collar may be appealing it is important to understand that it is just another method of training your dog. It is not the be all and end all of dog training, but used properly it can deliver very good results when other training methods just don’t seem to work. When you go to buy an electronic dog training collar be aware that you will find several different types that have differences in how they work. The type most people are familiar with is the electronic shock collar, which emits a low voltage charge that gets the dog attention. There are two other types of electric dog collars, one that works by emitting a high pitched sound that the dog finds extremely annoying and the other choice is a citronella collar that works by squirting citronella in front of the dog’s nose. Dogs do not particularly like the smell of citronella. No matter which version you choose they all work by getting your dogs attention and annoying it in an unpleasant way. Dogs, much like humans, will do whatever is necessary to avoid these annoyances even if it means obeying their owner. Using an electronic dog training collar is rather straightforward, but remember, it is only a tool to help you achieve the results you want with your dog. The collar won’t train your dog for you; it is a tool that you use to reprimand your dog when it does not obey your commands. For instance when training your dog to sit give the command “sit”, push gently but firmly on the lower back which makes your dog assume the sitting position. You must do this several times so the dog understands what you are asking it to do. Only after demonstrating to the dog several times what he is to do with a certain command do you try and give the command without any human intervention, ie pushing his but down. A dog that catches on quick and obeys should be praised and rewarded with a treat. If the dog refuses to obey this is the time to use the electronic collar. After getting your dogs attention with the collar start over by giving the command and pushing his hind end down into the sitting position and repeat the whole process over. One of the more popular uses for an electronic dog training collar is the invisible fence. By running a thin wire around the outside of your yard the dog that sets off a beeping alarm whenever your dog approaches the property boundaries the dog learns to stay on your property and not wander off. If the dog ignores the beeping and continues to approach the boundary the collar will give a low grade shock that gets his attention. Soon the dog learns to recognize the beeping and what ignoring the warning means. It should be mentioned that while this method works with the majority of dogs if your dog is overly aggressive no amount of beeping, citronella, or electrical shock will keep him from running through an invisible fence boundary. Using an electronic dog training collar is a good alternative to training a hard to train dog as long as it is used for its intended purpose. This type of dog collar should be used as a training tool that helps modify a dog’s behavior. It should never be used as a way to punish or in any way inflict needless pain on a dog. Used correctly chances are you will only need to use it sparingly and before long your dog will learn to obey your commands without it.
