Dog Obedience Training: the Training You Both Need

dog obedience training
Are you trying to work out how to accommodate dog obedience training in your life? I acknowledge I fought with trying to work out when I’d ever have time to get it taken care of. Even weekend courses of instruction I found generally did not work out since something was always arising.

Did you know that you are able to train your dog at home in your free time? I did not recognize that and it took me a long time to come up with something that worked. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy dogs. I was almost at the point of insanity trying to work out how to get him to behave like a normal dog.

I got to the point where I was fearing coming home each evening to discover what surprise I had ready and waiting for me once I walked in the doorway. The best was when he grabbed the table cloth and totally pulled everything off the dining-room table. There was smashed glass all over.

I genuinely did not know how much longer I could take it. I signed on for a few dog obedience classes but in some way life always appeared to get in the way. Then, if you miss a class then suddenly you’re that pet owner at class with the dog who’s running around crazy when all the other dogs are in reality making progress. I was that pet owner.

I searched all over to figure out something that would work in my post. I mean there are only so many minutes in a day. I am glad to state that I ultimately discovered a program that does work. I no longer have to dread coming home each evening out to see what kinda disaster awaits me.

It’s a nice feeling. So I recognize what you’re going through and it Is not the end of the world.

Do you like the way your house looks after your dog has been running raving mad? If not then I propose you do something about it. Dog obedience training in your free time is the way to go!

Dog Training Advice?

dog training advice
SP <3 asked:

I have had quite a few dogs in the past, and have been able to train them pretty quickly and easily, but my new puppy doesn’t seem to want to learn. She’s very smart, and can already sit, lay down, and fetch, but she doesn’t want to stop chewing, biting, or going on the floor. What is the best way to stop her from doing these things?
If you have any advice, please help. Or if you know of any good websites, that would help also. =]

The Importance of Finding a Professional Dog Trainer

private dog training
So, what makes a professional dog trainer? In order for a person to judge on how each dog is to be handled during a dog training class, they must have experience. This is experience that is more than taking a couple of dogs through the initial rounds. This is the kind of knowledge that is gained from working with all breeds and under all conditions. The nature and characteristics of each dog has to be considered – the training method should be varied in order to meet the occasion.

The trainer has the advantage, only when he/she knows what they can expect and what the dogs’ reaction will be. A trainer foresees the dog’s next move and then decides whether or not to force the issue or to decrease the demands. It takes skill to know when to be gentle towards a dog and when to be firm. It also takes skill to when to reprimand and when to encourage. A good trainer is has essential qualities that give him/her the capability of coordinating their body movement with every move a dog makes in training and the result is good timing. This is the exact reason why so many trainers succeed and some fail. When a trainer is clear-cut in his actions that’s simply because he/she is experienced – they know what they are doing and so does the dog – this leads to respect! When a dog gains respect through admiration and not fear, this will bring a positive response. This is proof of a person’s one’s training qualities.

A dog can not be forced to like obedience but he can be forced to be obedient! The dog trainer should not be a bully. A good trainer understands that all training is every new step becomes easier and easier only if the previous lessons have been thoroughly understood by the dog. Experienced trainers do not fear retracing their steps briefly if it will give a dog confidence. The experienced trainer is also aware of the terrible effects caused by nagging so he/she will avoid it all together. A person who is patient does not become infuriated if results are a little slow in coming. The intelligent trainer thrives in making a dog feel accountable for the correction. Yes, he/she is kind but they are also firm. They will make obedience fun for a pet.

Surprisingly, a good trainer doesn’t always make a good training class instructor. Many will attempt to train dogs at home and give private instruction with success; however, when they are in front of a large group, they lack the important qualities of leadership. During the dog training class, its great to be able to work out a single problem, however, one has to be able to solve a whole host of problems at any given moment.

Additionally, the trainer director has to be likable. They must have the respect of his/her trainee. They must have tact and be very patient and broadminded of others. It is not always a piece of cake to train someone on how to accomplish what one is capable to doing on their own. A good training director will never allow the class to be in session for a long time when discussing one dog’s dilemma with the owner. He/she never holds back the group for a couple of unruly dogs. Dog owners with special needs must be asked to come before the class begins or stay after the training class is completed for individual instruction.

Adopt a Calm and Relaxed Approach When Training Your Aging Dog

private dog training
If you have a pet dog at home, then you would be aware that dogs often communicate that they are in pain. However, you would also be aware that dogs to not always communicate their pain. This leaves room for a bit of sleuthing on your part. If you discover that your dog feels pain while lying down, then you should consider the idea of dispensing with the ‘Down’ command in your obedience lessons. There is no hard and fast rule in this regard. You will have rely on your own evaluation of the condition of the dog and follow your instincts.

The obedience training of an aged dog should not cause physical and mental discomfort to the dog. Training the dog to obey the ‘down and stay’ command ensures that your dog does not disturb you when you want to spend a few moments in private with your spouse. The ‘down and stay’ command is effective for a longer period as compared to the ’sit and stay’ command. If you train your dog to obey this command, you need not lock it in the basement or the bathroom.

It is imperative that you remain cool and calm during obedience training. Becoming emotional will only drain your energy and your dog will take advantage of that to disobey your orders. Dogs are very quick to spot any weakness in their masters and this is true even for an aged dog. If you let your dog take control, then you will have difficult and resentful training period where you have to continuously assert your authority. Avoid such problems by speaking and acting in calm, slow, deliberate and rational manner. Be consistent in your actions to maximize your training benefits. You can get your older dog well trained a lot faster if you adopt a cool and calm approach.

Older dogs often lose weight and lose some of their fatty components of his weight in the process. This results in a scenario where the aged dog loses his ability to regulate his body temperature as he is not as well insulated as before. Hence, when you are conducting obedience training of your aged dog, do not make him work in extremes heat and cold. Older dogs are more susceptible to problems due to heat variations.

Aged dogs suffer from constipation and incontinence as well. Just allow the dog to relive itself before and after an obedience training session. If the dog relieves itself during the session, simply ignore it and proceed with the training. Avoid feeding your dog just before or after the obedience training session. This can upset the digestion of the dog. Further, the dog may consider the feeding as a bribe and may insist on being fed every time before and after the training. Avoid such a scenario as you would lose control over the training process. When you are training aged dogs, always opt for many short sessions as opposed to a single long training session.

Dogs do not become ordinarily become senile. It is only when they are affected by conditions like brain tumor that a dog becomes senile.

Dogs have a huge capacity for learning. They can learn new things even at an old age. This potential is seldom tapped by dog owners.

How to Protect Against Dog Attacks and Dog Bites

Stop dog Biting
Of all the things going on in my world of self defense and home security products-burglary, rape, assault, self defense, home security, et.al. I get more calls and more inquiries on this topic than any other. To me it is amazing. Yet there it is! IT BLOWS ME AWAY!! HOW TO PROTECT AGAINST DOG ATTACKS AND DOG BITES.

More than women’s self defense, more than self defense, more than home security, more than any other single topic-this is, as they say, the pick of the litter.

Anecdotally the other day I got a phone all from a frantic lady whose daughter and her pit bull puppy were attacked when they went to a doggie park. She was scared to death and her daughters’ dog almost got killed.

I am not going to get preachy here but c’mon. Dogs are animals. Animals have instincts. One of those instincts is to fight and in some instances kill. It makes no difference if your dog is trained or not. When those instincts kick in, dogs will do what dogs do. Best you or your kids not be in the way.

The very first article I wrote about this nearly 18 months ago I recommended a dog pepper spray and a dog repeller that sends out an ultrasonic noise only dogs can hear. That was then.

Now I recommend a full strength Mace Pepper Gel and an 800,000 volt stun baton. The reasons for the change are simple. Dogs that run loose in my humble opinion do not deserve any consideration nor do their owners. Far too many people get hurt or traumatized by charging dogs not on leashes.

Some breeds do not respond well or at all to traditional fixes.

There is no certain way to prevent a dog from charging you and your best friend.

You have every right to do what you need to do to protect yourself and your dog!

Dog Bite Training: Training Your Dog Not To Bite

Stop dog Biting
If you’ve ever been nipped by a puppy, you know it’s no fun, even when it’s playful. Those teeth can be as sharp as needles. So how do you put a stop to your dog’s biting? With some earnest dog bite training.

But first, it helps to understand that he’s not biting maliciously. Biting and mouthing are natural activities for puppies and young dogs. They instinctively nip when playing with their siblings. This is the way they interact with the world around them. Left with his family, a puppy would soon be taught by his mother and siblings to control his bite. Even with you, your puppy will most likely learn to outgrow the behavior.

But who wants to wait?

In the case of a puppy biting, the solution is relatively easy. If your puppy is only a few weeks old, your first efforts should be to redirect his biting from you to a toy. Get a chew toy into the mix and let him harmlessly exhaust his biting behavior. This won’t always work, however, because sometimes a puppy is just brimming with too much energy. In these cases, put in his crate, along with his chew toy, and let him settle down on his own.

You can also try a hand around his snout, followed by a firm, “No.” This can be a quick and effective correction, though you have to be careful that your puppy doesn’t turn it into a game.

Additionally, involving your puppy with older dogs will often take care of a biting problem. If your puppy becomes a bit too rough in the company of other dogs, the rest of the group will quickly correct his inappropriate behavior. As simple as it is, this socialization with other dogs is easily the most effective way for him to learn to control himself when he’s tempted to nip.

Now, how about an older dog? What sort of dog bite training is appropriate in this instance?

Well, you’re beyond the effectiveness of a chew toy, so you’ll want to take a more traditional training approach. In this case, you might want to try using a pinch collar. Just as it sounds, a pinch collar pinches the skin around your dog’s neck. When he bites, you give the leash a quick pop, then release the tension. The goal here is given an immediate, sharp correction to get your dog’s attention and make him realize he’s done something unacceptable.

To be effective, there should normally be slack in the leash. If there’s always tension, then your dog won’t be aware that there’s a correction taking place. When he bites, you immediately tighten and release the tension on the chain, followed by “No.” Then your offer hand again to see if he has understood your correction.

Don’t over correct. Try this process a couple of times and if he continues to bite, end the session and return to it again at a later time. As with any form of dog training, you want the training sessions to be fun and motivational for your dog. Don’t over do them to the point where your dog loses all interest or withdraws.

Whether you’re dog bite training your puppy or and older dog, always treat him with respect. This means no hitting or slapping, even in situations where you’re trying to correct inappropriate behavior. Physical punishment will not only destroy the trust and respect, it’ll make him afraid of you. More important, it’s often ineffective. Using positive reinforcement, which generally means treats and plenty of praise, will teach him to play without biting much faster and more effectively.

FREE DOG TRAINING LESSON

free dog training lessons
Why must I enroll my dog in a language lesson when I can do just that? Some people like to do as others did, they like to follow crowed. You must not do the same thing john smith did to get the best of relationship from your dog.

You can even do more than the lesson teacher if only you can give out 30-50 minutes every day. You have to understand that dogs like attention and they know it when you get up upset.

I will teach you here the psychology that works for the teacher. Then you can bring up you dog the way you want.

The number one thing you need to know is psychology. Make your dog say sorry.

I know right now you are wondering how can I make a dog say sorry? You dog understand you just like you understand your dog normal behaviors. If you are happy your dog knows, if you are sad your dog will also know if bring her to it.

So the way to make your dog say sorry is to make her understand you are angry by talking to her and giving her serious sign of anger after showing her all of it turn away  from her. She will be very sorry. Some time times run to hide away from your site. Some times the dog will run under you chair, but this only happen if you are very use to the dog. You have to understand it is psychology and you don’t expect it to work the first day. So you have the exercise the same patient the teach will, to get the result you need.

You can make your dog say hey! What happened? Check that out here.VIsit www.surepuppy.blogspot.com
